Evony Server Merge Guide: What Survives and What Resets
A server merge changes the shared map around your account, but it does not erase your personal progress. Here is what stays, what resets, what happens during the first 24 hours, and why changing servers on purpose is a separate option limited to brand new accounts.
What an Evony server merge means
A server merge is not a move you request. Evony moves established accounts onto a merged server and rebuilds the shared map state around them. You cannot choose which server you merge into.
Notice usually arrives by email about 10 days before the merge. That notice gives you time to prepare for the parts of the shared server that will reset, but it does not open a choice of destination.
The key split is simple: personal account progress survives, while many map, ranking, alliance and throne records do not.
What survives and what the merge wipes
| What survives the merge | What the merge wipes |
|---|---|
| Your buildings and Keep progress | Bookmarks saved on both servers |
| Your VIP level | Kings, titles and throne history |
| Your gems, gold and resources | All rankings, which reset and refresh |
| Your generals, troops and items | NPC subordinate cities from the lower-ranked server |
| The subordinate cities you own | Alliance cities, which are removed from the map |
| Monarch’s Glory, if you unlocked it before the merge | Monsters, resource spots and relics, which are cleared and then re-populated |
| Troops outside a city, which return to that city automatically | The current Throne War cycle, which restarts 24 hours after the merge |
An alliance city is removed, but it can be placed again on the new map with no resource or time cost. The exception is an alliance city build that was already running.
📋 Your personal progress stays, but daily tasks still need attention. A Windows PC Evony bot keeps the daily farming and upkeep running. See the premium option.
The first 24 hours after the merge
Expect the new map to look different. Monsters, resource spots and relics are cleared and re-populated. Your old bookmarks cannot guide you because bookmarks from both servers are deleted.
All rankings reset and refresh. Kings, titles and throne history are also gone. The Throne War does not restart at once. It restarts 24 hours after the merge, so treat that first day as a reset period.
Your alliance will also need to place its alliance city on the new map. Normal replacement costs no resources and takes no time, unless a build was already running before the merge.
You do not need to recover troops that were standing outside a city. The merge returns those troops to that city automatically. Your generals, troops and owned subordinate cities remain yours.
What to do during the notice period
The email usually gives about 10 days of notice. Use that time to prepare for the known resets, not to search for a way to choose another destination.
- Copy any bookmark details you want to keep outside the game. Bookmarks on both servers will be wiped.
- Expect all rankings to reset and refresh. Do not rely on the old ranking screen after the merge.
- Be ready to place the alliance city again. Remember that the free resource and time rule does not cover a build that was already running.
- Expect monsters, resource spots and relics to be cleared and re-populated, so old saved map points will not carry over.
- Do not spend gems, gold, resources or items solely because you fear the merge will delete them. Those personal holdings survive.

Changing server as a new player
A voluntary server change is not the same as a merge. It is a short starting option for a brand new account.
The account must be less than 3 days old, and its Keep must be below level 6. Both limits apply. Once the account is too old or the Keep reaches level 6, the option is closed.
A new account begins with two Server Migration Tokens. Each move spends one token, so the account can move no more than twice.
A mid-game or late-game account cannot migrate, even if it has a token. For an established account, a server merge is the only way its server changes, and the player still cannot choose the destination.
Evony server merge FAQ
Will I lose my buildings, troops or resources?
No. Buildings, troops, gems, gold, resources, generals and items survive. Troops standing outside a city are sent back to that city automatically.
Can I choose which server I merge into?
No. An established player has no control over the destination server. The notice email tells you a merge is coming, but it does not give you a choice.
Do my subordinate cities survive?
The subordinate cities you own survive. NPC subordinate cities from the lower-ranked server are removed.
What happens to the alliance city?
It is removed from the map. Your alliance can place it again on the new map at no resource or time cost, unless an alliance city build was already running.
Can an established account use a Server Migration Token?
No. Tokens do not let a mid-game or late-game account migrate. Voluntary moves are limited to accounts under 3 days old with a Keep below level 6.
